our Mdina glass necklaces

Anya and I visted the Medieval town of Mdina where they conquered the Turks in 1546. We then bought some beautiful necklaces from Mdina Glass.

My Journey

I have always been a wanderer, a dreamer, an adventurer and a passionate person. I don't want to just be a dreamer anymore but someone who acts upon the desires that are placed on my heart. I have a desire to serve, to travel, to experience a culture and a people so different than North America that I come away with a different perspective on life. I also want to give of myself to others, challenge myself and let my potential be stretched.
My potential will definitely be stretch as I embark on my mission to the Democratic Republic of Congo. I will be volunteering with the Canossian Missionaries for one year in the town of Aru. Aru, is in NE DRC, close to the Uganda border. This town is apparently a peaceful area, unlike the rest of the country. I have the opportunity to be serve the community here by working in health clinics, teaching, helping in an orphanage and other things. The main language in the DRC is French, so I will have another challenge to face (I don't really count my high school French as much help, although it's a start).
I am super excited for this opportunity and can't wait to get to Africa. First I need to prepare for the mission which will take place in Rome, where the organization's headquarters are. This preparation time is 2 months, which seems quite lengthly, but it is important in order for me to be well prepared so I can serve in the best way possible. The training starts September 24 and will go until the end of November which will then be time for me to embark to Africa!
You can check out the Canossian volunteer website at: http://www.voica.org/en/index.html
I have definitely felt everyone's prayers for my journey as I was not anxious, nervous or fearful as I left Vancouver. I really appreciate the prayers a lot and I will keep you updated and let you know how I am doing.
As of right now I am in Malta with my sister and her husband for a week or so, and then will head back to Italy.
Ciao!
